WHAT WAS SPOKEN ON THE MAGETITANS ROUND TABLE?

As we told you in the previous post, we had the pleasure of attending the MageTitans convention in Valencia, in which a round table was organized with experts from the sector. Discussed the new evolution in the frontend that Magento will also integrate called PWA (Progressive Web Applications).

You may ask, what is the PWA? We will try to explain as simplified as possible. It is a set of technologies with guidelines and patterns to follow within your website, one of the biggest benefits is that if you run and meet the PWA standards, the systems will recognize you. That is, if systems like Google Chrome recognize you as PWA, you can use the functionalities of the device. One of the main features of the PWA is that your back office is separate from your front office.

With the result of this new standard, it makes websites faster and compatible with all systems that recognize PWA, giving the ability to work offline and act as a native mobile application.
Therefore, Magento has wanted to embark on a new project called Magento PWA Studio, a set of tools for developers that allow the implementation and maintenance of a PWA storefront. It uses modern tools and libraries to create a compilation system and a framework that adheres to the Magento extensibility principle.

One of the members of our Web4Commerce team, Kirian Murgadella (CTO) had the pleasure of being able to discuss at the round table about the PWA. Next, Kirian will give us his point of view and opinion about the debate at the round table.

“One of the positive points of having participated in the round table is that the debate that took place was very agnostic about the relationship with Magento, whenever we talked about PWA it was done as a concept and not as something binding on the platform. Although PWA is now, at the round table it was very clear among the speakers that we did not see it as normalized for three years.

In my opinion, there was very little talk about the difficulties that are going to be had to migrate the current stores to a PWA and it is surely a critical point. In which the other speakers who talked about the PWA said that migration would be simple, but in my opinion I see it as a complicated point. The round table was very good, but in my opinion as a professional I would have liked more topics of interest to have been discussed. ”
